Happy Holidays from the GOTR NWI Staff!

6 GOTR NWI staff members smile, while wearing their holiday-themed gear

As 2022 comes to a close, we have so much to be grateful for! This year brought our Fearless 15th anniversary and it was one we will never forget!

In celebration of a year well-spent, we held an in-office Q&A, before we began our holiday break. Check out our staff's answers below:

erica

Q: Who makes you laugh the most in the office?

Erica (Operations Manager): It's impossible to pick just one person! Everyone in the office makes me laugh every day. I would say that Dragana, Amanda, and I have the most similar sense of humor- you can catch us in between tasks, giggling about something silly. Jodi makes me laugh with her hilarious pop culture references. Jacqueline's dry sense of humor catches me off guard in the best possible way. Jill's laugh is infectious and she always finds a way to make us all laugh throughout the day. Overall, I love their humor and I love working with all of them!

Q: What is your go-to energy award?

Amanda (Program Manager): My favorite energy award of all time and "go-to" is the "The Mohawk."  I always enjoyed doing this one with my team when I coached and loved the excitement that goes into "rocking the mohawk"!

Q: What is the best part of your job?

Dragana (Community Engagement Manager): I love seeing things we do in the office directly and positivly affect the girls of our community! Seeing them so happy at 5Ks is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world! On a personal level, the best part of my job is working in the office with such intelligent, selfless and caring women. We truly do have a great team behind our council and I am incredibly proud to be on such a team. GOTR Family 4ever!

Q: What is your favorite GOTR memory from this year?

Jacqueline (Development Director): My favorite memory from 2022 was watching all the girls cross the finish line at each of our 5K events!  It brings me so much joy! As much as we impact our GOTR girls, they change our lives, too. Every season, we watch them set a goal, work towards that goal AND achieve it at the 5K. How can you NOT be inspired by such perseverance? During the 5Ks, the girls may become exhausted and unsure how they will finish, but their eyes absolutely sparkle when they see the finish line. Watching them gain momentum and run through the finish line with a huge smile on their faces is an emotional moment that will always make my heart soar with pride!

Q: What is your favorite part of a GOTR 5K?

Jodi (Program Director): My favorite part of the Girls on the Run 5K events is seeing the joy in the eyes of our program participants and their families as they celebrate what they have accomplished over the past 10 weeks! There is nothing like standing at the finish line and watching GOTR Grownups celebrate their GOTR Girls finishing a 5K for the first time! And, we often see Grownups surprise themselves by completing their very first 5K too! It truly is a rewarding experience!

jill

Q: What are you looking forward to most in 2023?

Jill (Executive Director): I'm looking forward to some of the new opportunities and challenges we will have in 2023! We have 2 new 5K locations, a new venue for our Sneaker Soiree (April 22nd at the Hard Rock Casino), and we are planning to expand our territory. I look forward to working with my fabulous GOTR staff to tackle the exciting year ahead!

Thank you all SO much for being a part of our Fearless 15th year. We had a blast and we hope you did, too! From our GOTR family to yours, Happy Holidays! See you in 2023!
